Thirsty Boyz Tour Rules

The Thirsty Boyz Tour uses the most recent rules as provided by the USGA

  • The ball must be holed by the player. No gimmies.
  • Players may carry more than 14 clubs without penalty.
  • The maximum score for any hole is triple bogey.
  • Lift, clean, and place in your fairway only. Lift, clean, and drop through the green and not in a bunker or penalty area. Drop must be within one club length of the original position and must be on the flagstick and ball line. Cannot drop laterally left or right. Can only drop once.
  • The ball does not have to played while resting on rocks or roots. Have at least one competitor acknowledge that your ball is on rocks or roots and then place the ball directly behind and within one club length of the current sport. There is no penalty for this relief.
  • If a player's ball is lost or is known to be out of bounds the player may either with a 1 stroke penalty replay their shot within a one club radius of the original shot that is not closer to the hole, or with a 2 stroke penalty take relief by dropping a ball in the following relief area. Determine the ball reference point which is the point where the original ball is lost or last crossed the edge of the course to go out of bounds. Next determine the fairway reference point which is the edge of the nearest fairway of the hole being played that is not nearer the hole than the ball reference point. The size of the relief area is anywhere between a line from the hole through the ball reference point (and within two club lengths to the outside of that line), and a line from the hole through the fairway reference point (and within two club lengths to the outside of that line). The drop must be in the general area and not nearer the hole than the ball reference point. Once a player puts a ball in play under this rule, the oringinal ball that was lost or is out of bounds is no longer in play even if the ball is found on the course before the end of the three minute search time.
  • Balls may be dropped from anywhere between shoulder and knee height.
  • During situations where the rules are not clearly understood, the player may play two balls until holed, one ball for each interpretation of the rule. A Tour Manager will give a decision as to which ball will be scored before the player turns in their scorecard.
  • Any player disagreements not resolved in a friendly manner will result in a disqualification for all parties.
  • All course restrictions must be followed. Irresponsible conduct may result in banishment from the Tour.
  • Golf is played, for the most part, without the supervision of a referee or umpire. The game relies on the integrity of the individual to show consideration for other players and to abide by the Rules. (Rules of Golf, The Spirit of the Game)
  • Inclement Weather: If the last group in the field has finished the 9th hole, the round can be considered a completed Tour event. If the last group in the field has not completed the 9th hole, the event may not be scored and all players still on the course will receive a rain check good for 50% of the entry fee. Rain checks will not be accepted as payment for Tour entry fees. Decisions referencing weather and the playability of the golf course will be made by the Professional Staff at the course being played.
